What To Do When Visiting Niagara Falls

Niagara Falls is great for a day trip but what else is there to do?

So I mentioned that I was working on my travel series. Why? Because for my husband and myself our dream is to travel for the rest of our lives. A huge reason why I started blogging was to showcase why I wanted to pursue entrepreneurship. And along the way highlight the personal growth that was required to do some of the amazing things we’ve done so far and all of the amazing things yet to come!

There’s so many amazing and wonderful places to see in the world! But I’ll start for now by chronicling all of the places we’ve been to so far. Acadia National Park was the first place we went on our 3-month road trip across the USA, Niagara Falls was second.

I wish we saw Niagara Falls at night.

We visited in the afternoon. Which was a great time too! It was June and the weather was perfect.

I wasn’t prepared for the walk over to Canada, not really, but you absolutely have to if you go! That’s where the Falls are much more impressive. Just be sure to have some money to get back into the U.S. and your passport.

We spent some time over in Toronto after visiting Niagara Falls, which was great I just wish that we had the bank account that time around to really splurge while we were there. I’m certain there were some amazing restaurants we missed out on!

Seeing pictures of the falls at night though makes me really regret not doing that. They’re still spectacular during the day but they have the lights glowing different colors from what I’ve seen, and I just imagine it being like a fairy tale kind of experience.

Maid of the Mist.

Is the boat tour that goes around the falls at the bottom. Again, I wish we had the bank roll that time around to justify doing that but next time!

If you do, you definitely would need a poncho because you’ll get soaked. Any electronics, or anything else you don’t want getting wet definitely add them into a plastic bag or something that will protect them.

Years and years ago you used to be able to go down the falls in a barrel. That’s right, a barrel! From my understanding, not many survived those trips and I’m almost certain they are no longer allowed, but daredevils look it up if it sounds appealing to you!

Buffalo, NY.

So my husbands father is originally from Buffalo, so they used to visit as kids. Buffalo is right by Niagara Falls and is the home of the, you know it, buffalo wing! Those delicious, spicy chicken wings and drums that you always have on football Sunday? Yea, those.

The Anchor Bar in Buffalo, NY prides itself on being the founders of the original buffalo wing, so when you’re there I absolutely recommend heading there and having some! Original or not, they are delicious!

Definitely plan a weekend in Niagara Falls.

Niagara Falls doesn’t have an abundance of things to do in my experience but still, plan a weekend and see what else is there!

Have you been to Niagara Falls? Let me know in the comments and tell me some other fun things to do! When we go back I want to stay in a fancy hotel overlooking the falls, so if you have a suggestion please leave one!
