Why I Read My Horoscope Daily

I read my horoscope daily, and no not necessarily because I believe my life is written in the stars, but it’s possible.

Just about anything is possible, right? If you’re like me, you immediately started saying, well no it’s entirely impossible for the sky to be green. Except, if you’re color-blind maybe it’s green to you. Also, if it’s the aurora borealis, that’s green sometimes.

We could do this all day though.

It’s like Les Brown’s video on Youtube where he talks about the 4-minute mile. Go look it up it’s called “It’s possible.” And it’s amazing!

In this video he says how everyone thought that it was impossible to run a mile in 4 minutes, until someone did. Then all of the sudden, high school kids are running the 4 minute mile. Why? Because then the perception was that it was possible.

It was impossible to land on the moon, until it wasn’t.

You see, that’s just it, perception is reality. And that’s why I read my horoscope daily. And I’ll tell you, I am a critic of just about everyone and everything. Not from a pessimistic stance (even if my husband might disagree) merely a curiosity stance, as in I’ll believe it when I see it.

And I have read so many different horoscopes from so many different sites but the one thing I’ve learned is that there is always a common thread. I can’t say I’ve read all of the horoscopes everywhere, so let’s not go crazy here. What I can say is that from a generic web search and reading 10-20 horoscopes (I really hated my previous job) that there’s a commonality in every one.

That leads me, the critic, to believe that either they’re all conspiring together, or there’s something to a horoscope. I mean, sure, all of the horoscope writers could reasonably just have a Facebook group where they’re like this is what we’re gonna say Monday-Sunday for Libra, and continue to assign one to each horoscope. But that seems highly improbable. Not impossible though haha.

Alright so maybe there’s something to a horoscope, why do I read them though?

It’s important to ‘know’ yourself.

Introspection, I’ve learned, is not something everyone does. Especially not as obsessively as I have been known to. It’s important to know yourself I think because only then can you reroute yourself.

It’s like in business, that shiny object syndrome, you have to recognize it in order to stop it. If you know your tendency to run off the rails with the next idea you get, you have to be able to recognize it as it’s happening or before it happens.

Business isn’t the only application of course. How else would you be able to stop yourself from overeating if you don’t know when you’re doing it?

This ties into horoscopes because I think in order to see yourself clearly you have to be able to see patterns. That’s all that horoscopes are, patterns. There are patterns written in the stars that translate into who you are as a person, or so they say. What horoscope’s are actually doing for you is allowing you to identify with those patterns within yourself, good and bad.

As a libra, I am always depicted as fair. I weigh good vs. bad, and I pick the most desirable outcome by way of deciding the risks vs. rewards for particular actions and consequences. What this also means though is that I am a procrastinator and I can be fickle with my decisions.

This helps me personally because I know that I tend to procrastinate for far too long and in business this is detrimental. Business is based on decisiveness and confidence. As a libra, I tend to be too wishy-washy, but I know this and so I make it a point in business in particular to make a decision and roll with it. Of course, I weigh the pro’s and con’s but I won’t allow myself to sit for too long on problems or else I know that I won’t get anywhere in my business.

Horoscope’s keep you motivated.

At least for me, good or bad, I always feel better reading my horoscope. I’m sure it’s designed to be uplifting and empowering or else who would read more of them? It’s a kind of comfort too thinking that the universe has my back.

I suppose for some people religion can be a similar outlet. I’ve always seen myself as more spiritual as opposed to religious though. I’m certain there’s other things that exist in this universe but what exactly? I’d rather not know for one because it takes the fun out of things and for two because I’m almost certain I’d be disappointed in the answer.

Disappointment.

Horoscopes don’t just lift you up but they help you reroute the disappointment. It helps me take the bad and turn it into good. Which is like being motivated but the opposite. I can stay motivated usually, but I always have a hard time rerouting the disappointment.

Meaning, I’ll keep trucking along but in my head I keep saying, what’s the point. And if you want any kind of results in life, you have to speak into the universe what it is that you want so that it can get it for you.

If you’re like me, and you spent way too much time speaking into the universe, woe is me. Then you’ll get all the woe you could want and then some. Rerouting that disappointment or that depression, anxiety, pity party, whatever into ‘everything happens for a reason’ or ‘the universe has my back’ is pivotal in life and business. Horoscopes are self-talk.

Essentially, they serve as self-talk only through the sense of the universe. It’s like a daily pep talk or a weekly wins list. Every day you should lay your head on the pillow and say I did awesome with this and I could do more with that.

Horoscopes can serve as a guided meditation.

When your head’s on that pillow you’re saying to yourself I did this or that, breathe deep. Inhale through your nose and exhale out of your mouth and remember that for every ‘bad’ thing about your zodiac sign there’s plenty more good.

It takes intention to learn the good from the bad. Introspection does not happen over night it’s a lifelong learning process, for every season of your life. It takes awareness to see the patterns. Horoscopes show you the patterns whether you’d like to accept them or not is up to you, but if you can’t see them how will you ever know?

It’s like addiction, the first step is to admit that there’s a problem. If you can’t see the problem then you can’t fix anything and you spend your life doing the same things over and over again and expecting different results. Which is the definition of insanity.

  1. This was such a thought provoking post. I used to obsess over horoscopes every week and I completely agree there are just as many downs and there are ups. Now I don’t really read them all that much but every now and again I get the itch to see what it says.
